July 6th-12th: The Chaos Inside
July 5, 2009
At least, that’s how the week will feel when we start out, as if we just want to throw it all over, run off into the sunset, and grab for ourselves what we imagine will be a few moments of true freedom–silly humans! The tension that plagues us on the 6th may be seen by many as springing from the impending eclipse, and though it may lend some urgency to the atmosphere, I think the real culprit is the exact Mars square to Neptune and Jupiter and sextile to Uranus. This brings forward a willful (Mars), on-your-seat edginess (Uranus) that makes us impatient to get our dreams, fantasies, and delusions (Neptune) up and running, preferably out in public, for all in our social sphere to see (Jupiter). Knowing that this may be what’s behind our ambitions should make us a little more cautious than usual, and a little slower to push for things, the implications of which may not be totally clear at this time.
Pallas is in a running quincunx all week with Earth, suggesting that our innate skills, as well as what we know to be wise, will require we modify our material situation, goals, and expectations, and possibly the opposite, that the material reality will require changes to our skills (perhaps in learning new ones or adapting old ones to new uses) and to our ideas of what’s wise: the old ideas of what’s smart may no longer apply–thanks, age of Aquarius!

If it all gets to be too much, just take a walk
Please see the eclipse post for details on events of the 7th.
On the 8th the Moon passes over the North Node in Aquarius, then quickly sextiles Juno and trines Venus. This suggests that by this point we will have gotten it together on the internal stage, at least as far as what we desire is concerned, and the emotional state will cue us to a way to get it by empowering ourselves in a form that’s compatible with our chosen direction. The harmony of this period may make us aware that much of the recent turmoil has been internal, with much less upheaval to external circumstances than we anticipated just a few days ago.
The 9th sees a Finger of God formed by the transiting Moon in Aquarius as the apex, with quincunxes to the Cancer Sun and Saturn in Virgo. Here the emotional state is challenged to live up to its own identity reality; in other words, we must modify the emotional perceptions so that they accurately reflect who we are and where we are in life. Some may feel this is harsh (“What’s wrong with a little fantasy?”) but it’s the most direct route to emotional peace and the ability to both act effectively and access our own resources in assisting and honoring others. Generally, the better we are at aligning our Self-image with our reality, the better we like ourselves.
The 11th brings Mercury sextile Saturn–now’s the time to open your mouth and speak out; what comes out will be restrained, show good judgment (barring personal heavy hits from Neptune and possibly Jupiter), and will be seen as constructive. On the 12th the Moon in Pisces opposes Saturn and Ceres–here we may feel some resistance to restraining ourselves, to following the rules, and to authority. Know that these are reactionary, a fleeting urge based in our temporary plunge into the Cosmic soup (Pisces)–it tends to make us aware, sadly, of our separateness, and can make us think that a boundary-less existence will somehow improve our state. Soothe yourself with something deliberately Piscean–a drink, a swim, a foot bath, a new pair of shoes, a walk, a long hot shower, a boat ride, a plunge in the sea–and continue to honor the rules.
A peek into next week: the Superior Conjunction of the Sun and Mercury occurs the 13th, offering a culmination of energies initiated during the Inferior Conjunction of the retrograde period. Just a heads up!
And whatever you do, have a great week!
